Twitter Can Help You In Your Real Estate Business

By Jerome Pennix

At every real estate conventions, boot camps, or seminars the topic of marketing comes up. Someone will mention Facebook (that's a whole different story) which is always closely followed by a comment about Twitter. So... let's evaluate is Twitter worth it? If it IS worth it, how can you best use it for great results? First, lets look at just what Twitter is and what it can do for your marketing efforts.

Twitter.com is a website where anyone can create a profile and become a "micro-blogger" Twitter is like a regular blog (aka web-log) in that it lets you say anything you desire to say to anyone and everyone who will see it - with one exception. Twitter only allows you to express yourself--0 characters at a time. So it's a little like using you cell phone to send the world a text message. When you find a profile of someone whose--0 character Twitter posts (called "tweets") you can "follow" them - whenever they post something new, it will appear on your Twitter home screen. If someone finds YOUR profile and follows YOU, then you will be notified that someone is "following" you. Now that you know the basics, let's talk about making this a useful and PROFITABLE tool for you.

Because the old adage "Out of sight, out of mind" is always true, you'll have to keep active with your "tweeting". You should post at least one time a day. Find information to say specific to real estate - information that other people will deem useful. If you just start putting info about properties you in your portfolio for sale, it probably won't get you as far as you desired. After all - when have you last opened and read an email from someone trying to sell you something?

When you give your followers something they can use or something they find fascinating (even if it ISN'T about the real estate industry) then you'll have a chance to maintain their attention. When you gain their friendship, they'll be more open to review what you have to say when you want to offer them something you've listed.

Twitter, like other social networking sites, is a good way to connect with others - just keep in the forefront of your mind that they're people and want to be acknowledge like people. They aren't money makers. So connect when a person follows you, send them a short personal message letting them know you appreciate it.

Remember that being real with others and giving thoughtful content is what Twitter is made for - the profit will follow if you treat people like people and post routinely so that your Twitter marketing is constantly on the radar! The more you "Tweet", the larger your following will become - and the larger your following, the better your opportunities of communicating with a person who is interested in making a deal - which, of course, means a greater opportunity for you to profit! - 23229

What To Know About ETF Trading

By Patrick Deaton

Exchange traded funds and ETF trading activities and how to use them can make for excellent investment vehicles for anyone looking at generating good rates of return on investments in the exchange traded fund. Basically, an ETF is nothing more than an index fund that tracks one of the big market indexes out there. For example, many track the Standard & Poor's 500.

They sometimes are also what are called "trusts." Either way, they usually are constituted much like mutual funds in that they contain a basket of various securities. Also, they are listed on a stock exchange and can be traded all day long, which the industry refers to as "intraday." This means that trading activities in the fund are looked at on a trading day basis.

There are over 100 different exchange traded funds listed by the American Stock Exchange. These funds represent a wide range of indexes and market sectors, including industries, all of the broader stock market indexes, most sectors in the markets and also international regions around the world. An ETF can also engage in representation of Treasury and corporate bond indexes.

Investors who wish to participate in ETF trading sell or buy shares in the collective performance of one or several of an entire portfolio of bonds or stocks as a single security. As an arrangement, there are many benefits to doing so. This includes combining liquidity of stock investing with all the benefits of investing using traditional fund indexing.

There are a great many advantages to the investor, whether large institutional kinds or the small investor who will be getting into an ETF through a trading system. Generally speaking, an exchange traded fund has much lower annual expenses -- referred to as costs -- than many other investment vehicles. Because they are not index-based, their management fees are usually very reasonable.

What this means is that the fund itself is not actively managed on a minute by minute or hour by hour basis. Many traders in an ETF who adhere to a fundamental strategy very really see those particular portfolios moved much at all in the day or even the trading week. Additionally, studies show that actively managed funds don't outperform these funds, which are benchmark index operated.

ETFs can operate in this way (meaning non-active management) because they tie their net asset value on each trading day to the assets that underlie the fund. This can make an ETF extremely transparent because it tends to replicate the holdings that are contained in the index that the ETF is tied to and which it tracks on a daily and intraday basis.

Many small investors of the non-institutional variety go one of two ways when trading in an ETF; they usually trade all day or they make their moves to single trades carried out at at the end of the day. There is really no restriction placed upon trading activities by the ETF when it comes to this, though. ETF trading, then, usually turns out to be very easy. - 23229

Exploring A Career In Day Trading

By Terry Connor

A lot of people have the dream of making day trading their career and although day trading does have a number of risks making a living trading stocks is possible. To make a career from day trading the person needs to have a strong base of knowledge and it helps if they have a little bit of a sixth sense. Throughout this article how someone makes a career from day trading starring Marty Forex.

At the start of the work day Marty Forex decides to purchase a 100 shares of Forex-Trading Inc for by watching the trends Marty feels confident that this particular stock is on the rise. Turns out Marty is right as Forex-Trading Inc jumps up a full point before it is even lunch time. Marty decides to sell off his stocks in Forex-Trading before the end of the day and by doing so Marty is successful and makes a profit.

Lets say that Marty Forex made a $100 for the before mentioned trade (I am using this amount for simplification reasons) chances are Marty would us half of it to cover capital and half to put forward to future investments. Of course, no one in the day trading game is doing any investing with $50; again, this figure is simply for illustration. If Marty makes five similar trades for the business days, with the same results, he will have made $500 of profit. Keeping with that trend, trading five days a week would net Marty $2500 of profit per week. (Commissions, overhead costs and other business expenses, realistically bringing the amount down to $2000 or less would reduce this figure.) This is still a nice bit of profit, considering that this is only one stock's trade performance. Marty Forex probably handles quite a few more trades than that in a typical day's time.

Now unfortunately not every trade is going to result in a profit so lets look at a scenario where Marty Forex handles ten stock trades per day with the same $100 profit. We will say that Marty is successful on 30% of his trades so out of the ten trades Marty makes $300 profit. Same scenario for a typical week will see Marty bringing home around $1500 before expenses kick in. Hopefully with more education on determining what a stock is going to do next Marty can increase his success percentage which increases his profits.

Day trading does come with a substantial risk but if you use all of the available tools and resources that are available your odds of success increase. Make sure that you understand what you are getting into before you even knock on the door. An untrained day trader is a broke day trader. - 23229

Inverse ETFs

By Ahmad Hassam

A short ETF returns the inverse of the index it is linked to. For example, the ProShares Short Dow 30 ETF (DOG) will return the inverse of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) on daily basis. If the DJIA falls by 2%, DOG rises by 2% and if the DJIA rises by 2%, DOG will fall by 2%.

During the past few years, the number of Short ETFs has risen dramatically. Short ETFs not only cover the major stock indices like the S&P 500 or the DJIA but also different sectors like the energy, utilities or technology. You will even find Inverse ETFs on currencies now. Short ETFs are also known as Inverse ETFs or Bear ETFs.

Most of the ETFs are designed around some market index. ETF shares trade like ordinary stock shares. You can buy them. You can sell them unlike the mutual funds that can only be sold at the end of the day. The ProShares UltraShort Dow 30 ETF (DXD) rises 2% when the DJIA falls by 1%. So you can even find leverage short ETFs. A leveraged short ETF gives the trader leverage without the use of margins.

Over the years, short ETFs have risen in popularity with the investors and hedge funds. Short ETFs give you an excellent opportunity to profit from the volatility in the market and the major indices.

Before the introduction of short ETFs, a trader had to actually short sell stocks to take advantage of a market drop. Short ETFs are a great product as they have created new opportunities for traders.

ETFs have opened up a whole new way of profiting from the markets. The trader had to go against the trend and buy or else move into cash or fixed income in the past if the market was dropping. Traders are not allowed to sell short stocks or ETFs in their retirement accounts. Short and leveraged ETFs provide traders with new opportunities.

China is one example that garners a lot of attention. The Shanghai Index in China rose 100% in 2007. In the first quarter of 2008, the Shanghai Index was down 35%. ETFs also provide you with the opportunity to take advantage of the global market swings.

In the past, traders who wanted to benefit from the fall of Chinese stocks could only short Chinese stocks that were traded in US Stock Exchanges. The ProShares family of ETFs introduced the Ultrashort FTSE/Xinhua China 25 ETF (FXP). Now if you want to trade the fall of Chinese stocks, you can trade FXP ETF.

Short ETFs can be used for other purposes as well. Assume you have a portfolio of $100,000 composed of 75% stocks and 25% money market fixed income. As a long term investor you can take advantage of short ETFs to hedge your portfolio position.

The forecast of the market for the next six months is not good. But you are reluctant to sell your stocks due to tax reasons. Suppose the market falls by 10%. Your stock portfolio falls by 7.5% assuming the same ratio between the market and your portfolio. - 23229
